DX Assist 2.0

DX Assist 2.0 works directly with PTX files from Pro Tools, allowing you to work with assembly materials or in any other workflow that suits you. Ideally, you should export a session file containing only the dialogue tracks after assembly or after importing from an AAF, and then open that file in DXS.

In addition to the CUT option, it also includes a MUTE option, which silences unwanted regions.

The workflow is based on the familiar DX Assist system: horizontal and vertical processing, allowing you to choose the best versions of the audio.

The program also lets you preview the session on a timeline and play back the audio. You can process individual clips using Render Clip (Q), or process the entire timeline using Render Timeline (W).

Saving ptx works just like in other applications: Cmd+S for Save As.

A new parameter, Keep Non-Human Sounds, allows sounds such as laughter or breaths to be preserved.

You can select tracks or clips for processing.

We are working on Pro Tools 2026 compatibility from v 2.0.3, but its' still under development and can generate issues.

New function allows you to insert calculated cuts or muted clips directly into an open Pro Tools session, ensuring 100% compatibility. Simply use the “Process in Pro Tools” function.

We suggest importing only the dialogue session, so as not to generate waveforms unnecessarily. Suggested workflow — export only the dialogue tracks as "export selected tracks as new session," but the session file only; there's no need to copy the audio. Then drag and drop into DX Studio and process the whole thing or selected clips. The program exports only the selected and active tracks, of which there can be a maximum of 30 active at once in a single session.

Fully functional Beta version available for testing until 27.05.2026.

CHANGELOG

DXStudio v 1.0.3

Bug fixes:

- Fixed sessions processed by DX Studio that Pro Tools rejected with the message “magic ID does not match.”
- Fixed opening sessions from network drives — in some cases this resulted in a “file name too long” error, even though the drive was mounted.
- Track states — enabled for processing, solo, and mute — now reset when each session is opened.
Previously, they could remain “stuck” from the previously opened session.
- The timeline now shows the actual session start timecode, matching Pro Tools, instead of starting every session at 00:00:00:00.

Improvements:

- Cursor modes — 1 = clip selection, 2 = playback. Clicking anywhere on the timeline now seeks to that position. The mouse pointer changes depending on the active mode, and the buttons include “1” / “2” badges.
- Auto-scroll to the first clip — after opening a session, the timeline automatically scrolls to the first region instead of showing an empty start.
- Inactive tracks are clearly dimmed — tracks excluded from processing (✓/P off) now get a dark overlay, so it is immediately clear that they will not be included in the render.
- Improved missing audio message — now shows “found X of Y files — Z missing” and accepts a parent folder or drive root. DX Studio will search inside subfolders automatically.‍

DXStudio v 1.0.1

- The timeline now shows the actual session start timecode, matching Pro Tools, instead of starting every session at 00:00:00:00.

Improvements:

- Smarter audio file locating: when a drive is mounted under a different path than the one saved in the session, or when you point to a parent folder/drive instead of the exact “Audio Files” folder, DX Studio now searches for the correct directory automatically.
- Smooth vertical scrolling in sessions with many tracks — no more lag or stuttering.
- ALT-clicking the ✓ button on a track now enables/disables all tracks at once.
- Added some empty space after the last clip on the timeline, so it no longer ends right at the edge of the window.
- The preview cache — peaks — is now stored as a single Dxcache.db file in the session folder, instead of three separate files.

DX Studio v 1.0.0

Initial release.

DX Studio automatically cleans up dialogue in Pro Tools sessions — it detects speech, removes silence and mic bleed, and writes a ready-to-open .ptx session.

Features:

- Opens Pro Tools sessions (.ptx) — compatible with PT 2023, 2024 and 2025.
- Speech detection  — automatically finds speech and silence on every track; adjustable sensitivity.
- Horizontal pass — mutes or cuts the silence between lines, with configurable pre/post handles around speech.
- Vertical pass — compares overlapping clips across tracks and keeps only the loudest source, removing mic bleed.
- Three tolerance levels: Strict / Balanced / Permissive.
- MUTE and CUT modes — silence unwanted material, or physically cut it from the timeline.
- Timeline preview — tracks, clips, waveforms, channel names (read from BWF iXML metadata), zoom and scroll.
- Presets — built-in setting bundles plus your own saved ones.
- Supports WAV and MXF audio; locates audio on network drives and in "Link to file" sessions.
- Playback and audition before processing.
- Render a single clip or the whole timeline.Writes a new .ptx session, ready to open in Pro Tools.

Beta build — launch-limited; a full license removes the limit.
